Over the last couple of years Em has taken her sound world wide, playing in Poland, Italy and Barcelona. She has also played at one of the famous Full Moon parties in Thailand; a gig she won’t be forgetting in a hurry.

After another successful year of hosting ‘Simple’ events Em and the Simple crew are set to have a busy 2008 - now with the brightest electronic dance act to be working the underground club circuit at the moment; Dogshow joins the Simple sound system to take clubbing to the next level!

Facebook My Space

Mark Devlin is a UK-based club and radio DJ and music journalist, specialising in R&B, hip hop and dancehall. Over the past sixteen years, he has produced and presented radio shows, DJed in clubs all over the world, produced mix tapes and CDs, and contributed to market-leading music magazines. He’s also just written his first book!

From his early days in background production for Fox FM in Oxford, (where he won a Sony Radio Award, the industry’s equivalent of the Oscars, for his work on a station promo,) Mark’s big radio break was on Galaxy 101 in Bristol, where he presented the flagship Friday night urban show for two and a half years. From there, he moved on to Oxygen 107.9 in Oxford, where he presented two weekly shows with MC and co-host Kid Fury. The shows involved interviews almost weekly with hot artists from Busta Rhymes to Beenie Man.

Club-wise, Mark’s early residency at The Park End Club in Oxford paved the way for DJ work throughout the rest of the UK, including spots at such prolific London events as Smoove at Ministry of Sound, Fresh N Funky at Hanover Grand, and Twice As Nice. He has also featured on the bill of The Southport Weekender, and played at the world-famous Notting Hill Carnival.

More recently, he has branched out internationally, already spinning in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, The USA, (New York, Las Vegas, Chicago, San Francisco), Japan, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, Botswana, Mozambique, Ibiza, Cyprus, Greece, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Holland, Belgium, Jersey and Ireland! His most frequently visited territories are South Africa and Germany, where he has built up loyal fanbases. Mark’s resulting Diary blog on his website has come to rival any international travel magazine.

In addition to the DJing, Mark has drawn on his background as a magazine editor, and since 1998, has edited the Clubhoppin’ section of Blues & Soul, the UK’s market-leading urban music magazine, as well as contributing to other titles. His ongoing series of mix tapes and CDs continue to attract fanatical support at street level, and 2004 saw him release his first promotional DVD, with volume two making its appearance the following year.

2007 has seen MD returning to the radio waves with a new weekly show, ‘Just Buggin’, on Oxford’s FM107.9. It has also seen him adding author to his list of job titles, having just completed his first book. ‘Tales From The Flipside’ is a witty collection of anecdotes and stories from the front line of the DJing game which neatly turn the common public perception of superstar DJ lifestyles on their head. It’s available now via www.authorhouse.co.uk

Born in Nottingham and always wished one day I would be become a nightclub dj. I never was a DJ from the start tho, I was once was a "barrow boy" selling flowers and bananas in Nottingham city centre in the pissin rain and cold weather! Being in that job i thought the DJ dream was never gonna happen!

Ever since my early school days i had been savin up all my pocket money for a mobiel disco set up and one day was asked to do a disco and karaoke in pubs all over Nottingham. After a few years of lugging disco equipment around Nottingham i relised i wanted something bigger to do in life! Then "The Works" nightclub opened up in Nottingham where i started a light jocky job pressing buttons and looking after PA's such as Jason Donovan,Chesney Halks and boy band Blue in there early days! A few years in this job i progressed as a DJ doing the early and late slots in the main room.

Now thanks to some big djs that was a "The Works" (You know who you are) i learnt loads on the art of entertaining and mixing music i loved! I currently work all over the country with weekly residencys in Nottingham and Oxford! Ive worked in loads of clubs in loads of different citys which include:- Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, London, Bristol, Sheffield, Scarborough, Leicester, Derby, Newcastle, Hull, Leeds, Boston, Lincoln and also had the pleasure of working with some big names such as Judge Jules, Dave Pearce, Trevor Nelson, Westwood, Spoony, Lisa Lashes, DJ Sammy, Jordon, Danni Minogue, Ian Van Dahl, Ultrabeat, Garry Lucy just to name a few!

Having finished Uni I went into the professional DJing Having watched, listened and loved House music for years I brought a few tracks to add to my growing colection of vinyl and started DJing at student nights. The first experience of this was in Oxford at Brookes Student Union, The Park End Club and The Coven. At the same time I held house parties, which were literally that, and started to get a local following.... and made loads of new friends.

After a good grounding at The Student Union at Oxford Brookes University I was given the residency in Oxfords largest club; Park End & was transmitted local radio Station Fox FM. This lead to great things including nights In Birmingham and London which included The Gass Club, Bagleys and The Cross. Whilst running up and down the motorways to these nights in London & Birmingham I focused on Ibiza. It was bloomin hard at first but I secured a night there and flew over. It was probably one of the most biggest DJ experiences at the time ... one not to forget. Locally things were going really well between 94-98. The scene was strong and I was at the forefront of the clubs and receiving bookings all the time. Mainly at Miss Moneypennys, Bakers in Birmingham and also London Clubs. A new radio station called Oxygen FM started in 1997 transmitting from the centre of Oxford and I was the main presenter on a weekly show called 'The Blueprint' ! There we were, at the start of a new radio station and I was really enjoying playing new tracks to an audience that was unlimited. This lasted for a very healthy four years ...This was also a brilliant period of my life having club work a plenty and the radio work was great .. I was doing two to three club nights in the week, two Clubs on a Friday and one if not two Clubs on a Saturday night. The radio shows went from strength to strength untill it was brought by another company...things were good on the radio untill 2001.

Things varied for a few years with the club work and various productions. I had features and my own tracks regularly played on Galaxy, Kiss 100 and Radio 1. I came back to radio again in 2005 until 2008 where I played weekly on Oxford FM 107.9 and was still the main resident DJ on the main floor at Oxford Brookes Student Union..until June 2008 Having moved forward with music projects in the summer and winter of 2008 the place to catch me is at Turntablism, The Brickworks, Cowley Road, Oxford monthly.

This night is my new passion. It is a year since we started (July 2008-2009) and we now get the chance to play all the underground tunes that you want to hear in a small intimate venue. After years of big club nights this bar/venue is ideal for this vibe and type of music....last saturday of the month - come check it out ...
